FAQS

  • Stage 1 of both the Retail + Services and Innovation Precincts are now complete in addition to Environa Drive which is the main spine through the business park. A major upgrade to the electrical supply to the region is also currently underway and is being delivered by Essential Energy.

Planning for Stage 2 of the precincts is currently ongoing with construction expected to commence in 2022.

It is anticipated that the entire development will occur in stages over a 10-15 year period.

  • The Innovation Precinct is focused on organisations in the defence, space, high-tech manufacturing and cyber-security sectors. Poplars Developments is working with industry groups to ensure that there is a cluster of like-minded companies.

  • The development is being planned to mitigate any impacts on existing residences in Jerrabomberra. Studies are being conducted to assess potential impacts such as noise and amelioration measures specified to ensure that standards are not exceeded. In Stage 1 of the Retail + Services Precinct, for instance, a noise wall was constructed between the existing residences and the new development.

  • Any comments regarding the development can be provided through the contacts section of this website or via the Jerrabomberra Residents Association (JRA). The Poplars team regularly attends JRA's monthly meetings to provide updates and obtain feedback from the community.

  • Poplars is around 7km south of the Canberra Airport, so visitors may hear occasional noise as planes take-off and land.

We do recommend buildings are constructed with noise insulation in mind, although standard building practice usually has a degree of soundproofing incidentally built in. Building designs that provide high energy efficiency will generally also provide improved noise insulation.

It is important that potential investors inform themselves about aircraft noise. The relevant standard for construction in aircraft noise affected areas (Australian Standard AS 2021:2015) Additional information can also be found here:
